Having spent 8 years in this field working both in the UK and New Zealand, I have strong Stakeholder and Financial Management skills. A contract Programme/Senior Project Manager leading the Infrastructure Programme for Verve Energy. As part of the role I am currently running multiple projects in preparation to transition to project managers. The projects range from major Cisco refresh, data centre relocation with full technology refresh, Intrusion Prevention and Detection and Site Security upgrades. In addition to the Infrastructure Programme I am currently running projects to upgrade the current gas trading platform and the completing the Desktop Transformation. I am responsible for reporting to Senior Management and Project Boards on the progress of the Programme and Projects.
Contract Project Manager
A contract Project Manager engaged to deliver the Windows 7 and Office 2010 upgrade projects to the 700 users located in Wellington and 600 users across 54 posts globally. The scope of my engagement was expanded to include the implementation of SharePoint 2010 and the co-management of the Orange Phase Two Project.
I was responsible for reporting to ICT Senior Management and the Steering Committee’s on the progress of the projects. The Ministry required strong financial skills and the full utilisation of Project Server to manage and report on projects. The role provides leadership in investigating and resolving technical problems in projects and operations. The position also requires strong planning and prioritisation skills in order to handle the multiple projects/activities across the organisation.
A Project Manager, delivering key initiatives for the Infrastructure Services Department. I ran the Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrade and Desktop Replacement Projects along with the initiation of a Development Framework Project. I delivered projects aligned with the Transpower Service Delivery Life Cycle, working with the Project Advisory Team and business owners to investigate, initiate and deliver projects with a 6% tolerance of budget and schedule. Transpower required strong financial abilities and accurate forecasting of budget finances. I successfully delivered projects of medium financial budget ranging from $160,000 - $700,000 NZD.
Whilst at Unisys I initially worked across two accounts, Inland Revenue Department and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. On winning the Ministry of Health contract I set up and started to deliver the Data Centre Transition Project for the transition of services. I managed projects from conception through to closure, working closely with stakeholders to gather the requirements for their projects. It was my responsibility to cost, resource and track all work provided to the client and report any issues that occurred. During my time at Unisys I also assisted with the planning and costing of multiple bid processes. The projects were of medium financial budget ranging from $50,000- $600,000 NZD.
Technical Project Manager
I was part of a business critical team, responsible for the administration and ongoing maintenance of real-time data systems, providing the collection of over 100 data exchanges for the financial sector. My duties originally included installation, maintenance and support of the central computer systems (software and hardware), network auditing and documentation, creation of technical documents and implementation of networking solutions. However I secured an early promotion to the role of Real-time Project Manager. I oversaw all “BAU” projects, as well as being responsible for bespoke customer additions to our systems. It was also my sole responsibility to ensure that projects assigned to my team members are carried out effectively and to deadline. I was expected to attend all management meetings to discuss current progress, future projects and any departmental issues.
